Emerald, white tees
With all the rain we’ve had lately, I thought our trip to Emerald would still be a boggy affair today. That could not be any further from the true, there was actually a lot of run on the fairways. So there will be no more mention of rain, well that is until we get some more, haha.
Another small group today. No big report this time as there were only a handful of us.
A couple of new lads, Brian and Rod. Thanks boys, nice to meet you both. We also welcomed back Gary Bolger (hcp 15) who has been back down under for the last 4 weeks or so. Well played today Gary, taking the honours today, well played and you wouldn’t have thought you hadn’t picked up a club for a month.
A couple of worst ever scores as well, myself included, but good just to out having a hit again and not looking over your shoulder for lightening.
Looking forward to Burapha on Thursday.

Burapha white tees, A & B courses
A small group headed out to Burapha today to find the course in top condition. I love this course, even though I don’t play well here every time. Is it the lush fairways, lightening fast greens, deep rough or is it the long par 4’s. Put it all together and you get a good track, even though it plays long, if your playing reasonably you can score really well.
We arrived right on time, on a very hot day with no clouds overhead and smog laden skies. It was going to be a sun block day for sure. Made our way to the starter and were probably sent off maybe 5 minutes early today. A group of two in front of us then another few groups up ahead of them. After watching the two ball in front of us tee off the first, I thought we were in for a long day……..not to be. Even though we had to wait to tee box on maybe the last 3 holes, we finished and back in the clubhouse in 2 hours 50 minutes. Now that’s brilliant I think. We had carts, but a lot of holes it was carts in the rough only so we still had to walk to the ball. Thanks to the groups in front, made it a quick hence very enjoyable day.
Score wise, I think we are all suffering from playing inconsistently over the last 2 months with rain and injury. But a few of us started to hit our straps after a woeful start. Winner today was Paul Blackshaw (hcp 11) with an 85 gross, closely followed by Gary Bolger (hcp 15)
A big thank you to everyone that turned up with our early tee time and really hot day. I have noticed a few facebook comments about heat stroke today, maybe we were lucky we tee’d off an hour earlier than normal.
Pleasant Valley on Tuesday, all welcome, come on along.
