Green Valley 30th July
Stroke play, White tees
Tuesday is golf day.. Woke up this morning to dark skies and overnight rain. We were supposed to play at Eastern Star. Halfway there the heavens had opened up and I was thinking no golf today. Phone rings and its Eastern Star. “Sorry sir, we have big rain here now and course very wet”. I would like to thank Eastern Star for the phone call. It’s not often a course will ring you in low season and tell the bad news that loses revenue for them. I will return the honesty by booking this course again in next months schedule.
So, a quick phone call and were booking in at Green Valley. Great course, no complaints at all. Even in the wet, it rained for about the first 15 holes, we had carts. Some smart driving by the caddies with driving in the rough and cart paths. Some greens had just been sanded, but still played true.
Scores on the day varied. Some of the boys struggled in the wet, some struggled with hangovers, and some played some good golf. Bruce from Minnesota, a 16 hcp player joined us. Every can of Carlsburg beer resulted in a birdie or par. Might have to try this myself.
One player was going to score fairly well, maybe high 70’s in the rain, which would have been good, but he suddenly developed a case of the dreaded “shanks”. Three shanks in the last 3 holes and two on the last hole cost me, oops, I mean him, haha
Paul hcp 12 – 84 gross
Bruce hcp 16 – 87 gross
Navy course on Thursday. Looks like we already have some good numbers, but we can always fit a few more in.
