PSC GOLF REPORT – GROWLING SWAN – STABLEFORD
GREENWOOD – 16th February, 2015

The Colonel’s Secret Recipe!

After a ‘loving’ weekend with their valentines, 21 ‘Growlers’ appeared at the Growling Swan a little worse for wear. Warm welcomes were granted to Jim Carlson, ‘Bear’ and Rob “Strings” Heath. On the bus, all things golf were discussed and Colm Mullen put us back in our seats when he summised that, “golf is like flatulation”. “If you push your luck too hard, things could get messy real fast”!
Our destination was Greenwood, a fantastic course where one should be careful in pushing one’s luck. We played the B & C nines, with count-backs required on C nine. The true, though slick greens and many deep fairway bunkers continue to make this course pleasurable, though very challenging. The weather conditions were noticeably more humid and perhaps a sign that the change of seasons is upon us.
Geri Crilli hacked his way around the course with gay abandon however Ebrahim was all smiles and turned around his recent bad form.
Alan “The Colonel” Sanders was the surprise packet, whilst most struggled in vain, the ‘Colonel’ flourished and his golf game was like trying to find fault with Miss Venezuela. He powered to a convincing win with 39 pts whilst Jim Groves was the only other to play to his handicap. Count-backs were required to sort the chasing pack and Rob Heath and Colm Mullen snuck onto the podium.
Rita completed a surprising form reversal and accepted the Compass Cap with dignity and grace.

Resident fleabag Deefa, gratefully received significant donations from the players and they are thanked for their continued contributions. All ‘Deefa’ donations go to the PSC to be directed to projects to assist the needy children of Pattaya.
Back at ‘The Swan’, Martin Todd was welcomed back from his enforced layoff and it was good to see that his elbow was still AOK! The Colonel was asked for the recipe for his form reversal. Perhaps it was the charms of a secret valentine or just a secret!
We look forward to any newcomers to join us for serious golf with a dash of fun on Mondays and Thursdays.
The GS is a friendly golf outlet and caters for and encourages all golfers male or female to have a hit at any of our weekly outings. We play at one of the many fine golf courses in and around Pattaya. Please contact Peter Grey if you are interested on 0861 503086.
Bowls
The Growling Swan also caters to the bowls enthusiasts. Bus transport departs the GS on Wednesdays at 10 AM to play at Cocos on undercover synthetic greens and on Sundays at the same time for open grass bowling at The Retreat. Please contact Paul Rennison on 0843 454005 if you wish to partake. The cost including return bus transport, bowling fees and a hot lunch is less than 400 baht so great value for a day out.
