Growling Swan 14/05
GROWLING SWAN GOLF REPORT – STABLEFORD
CRYSTAL BAY GC – 14TH MAY 2015
Rice Bubbles to the Top
Sixteen eager players gathered in Soi Chaiyapoon and despite drizzling rain being in attendance headed off in high spirits.
During the journey the precipitation eased and as a matter of fact appeared little had fallen in vicinity of the course.
Welcomes were handed out to Pattaya resident Mashie Kaneta and Ted McDowell.
Tom and Gordon Clegg were farewelled returning to Canada and Saudi Arabia respectively.
It was overcast with a cool breeze which made for very pleasant conditions.
On our last visit the greens had more varieties of grass in them than found at Woodstock in 1969 however they have improved considerably and were given fifty kazoos by the field.
The course was in good nick and from the white tees Graham Rice made the Spanish inquisition look like euthanasia as he handed in thirty eight points to finish three points clear at the top.
Mike Gosden ran second with thirty five points whilst Mark Stapleton buckled on the back nine like a sumo wrestler’s deck chair, however hung on for third spot also on thirty five.
Fourth place went to Alex Field on thirty four points.

It was mine host Peter Grey’s birthday and he is thanked for the pig on the spit back at the Growling Swan.
He was also delighted to avoid the Coveted Compass Cap commenting “if you thought Bridget Bardot’s face has done a million miles you should see my golf swing”
Despite being able to sing in Latin the Peruvian national anthem in reverse Russell Calcutt’s golf didn’t match his undoubted musical talents and the Coveted Compass Cap duly adorned his wardrobe, albeit briefly.
Our resident hound Deefa once again was on hand to collect donations for the needy children of Pattaya and the punters are thanked for the contributions.
