The Growling Swan 03/10
Phoenix CC – 3rd October, 2016.
George takes the Tosca!
Twenty three golfers, with expectations high gathered at the Growling Swan for our first trip to Phoenix. I am not sure as to why we don’t go to this course as traveling time is certainly in its favor.
The weather was somewhat warm but a little overcast. The first nine we played it was a little uncomfortable to start (weather wise). The back nine was even better the temperature had dropped and the threat of rain was out there. We got thru with no rain to mention.
What a fantastic Course, it was in great nick, we played Lake and Ocean 9’s from the white tees. This would have to be one of the best courses that I have played at with the facilities the way they are, also the staff are out to help and make your day enjoyable.
As you will see the scores were not fantastic, you can put that down to fact that it is a tough course. Playing 2 Flights it was George McEwan that took out A Flight from Bill Steinmann with Peter Bailey filling 3rd spot. B Flight saw Glenn Smith scale the podium once again to take the chocolates from Sandy Leiper with Peter Grey taking 3rd spot.
