The Golf Club 22/8

Monday 22nd – Green Valley – Stableford – White Tees

1st – Fred Birch (20) 39 points

T-2nd – Peter Thomas (16) 37 points

T-2nd –Micky Beresford (20) 37 points

It was a glorious day for golf, with Green Valley looking as good as it ever has. Weather was on the muggy side but with a buggy for the shade and the breeze it was quite bearable.

Dale and Mark are still out in Scotland on their golf tour, but that didn’t stop their mate Micky B. from getting out to join us today. Mick had a good day and tied with Peter Thomas for second place, both with a 37 on the card.

Fred Birch was wielding some hot irons as he claimed the Caddy Smile near pin as well as the  win with 39 points. Well played Fred, and thanks again for those John Daly trousers that now adorn our wall of fame! Come have a look, they are outrageous!

Tuesday 23rd – Pattavia Century  – White Tees

1st – Ken Grimes (23) 42 points

2nd – Terry Dyer (20) 40 points

3rd – Robbie Taylor (14) 39 points

This is one of our favourite courses in the area, and today we found it in stellar condition. Greens were a bit slower than normal, but here that is a good thing! We had a load of unusually good scores and when a 39 only gets third place, it would seem the lads are getting a feel of the greens.

It was Robbie  Taylor with the 39 and one stroke better was Terry Dyer with a 40 on the card. Man of the match would have to be Kenny Grimes whose 42 is a great score out here. Phil Smedley was the only golfer to get a ball on the green so of course he wins the Caddy Smile near pin. Well. It was a good 180 yards uphill!

TERRY DYER

Thursday 18th – Laem Chabang  – Stableford – White Tees

T – 1st – Terry Dyer (15) 31 points

T – 1st – Walter Baechli (17) 31 points

T – 1st – Tom Casey (16) 31 points

As good as the scoring was on Tuesday, the lads were shocked to find a 31 point card would tie you for the lead! Granted, starting on the C course is always a challenge but no one could really find their form today.

Laem Chabang was in superb condition but Terry, Walter or Tom could not make the most of it and we end up with one of our lowest Stableford scores in ages. Walter Baechli also snatched the near pin today.

Thank you for your support of TGC, and keep it in the fairway!
