Monday 23rd – Green Valley – Stableford – White Tees
1st – Andy Makara (28) 41 points
2nd – Peter Thomas (19) 37 points
3rd – Peter LeNoury (14) 35 points
These days in Pattaya are the best of the season. Right now we are blessed with perfect weather and just about all the golf courses are in great shape. There was still a bit of damp around the greens at Green Valley, but those sprinkler heads causing the problem have all been repaired.
It was the usual suspects on the podium today and darksider Andy Makara was on top. It is funny to track golfers in their hot streaks and Andy seems to have a great month of golf and a few months of “normal” play but this round could kick-start his purple patch!
Peter Thomas is also back in the good numbers for second place after a month’s drought and that golfin’ machine Peter LeNoury with a solid 35 for third. Andy Leach took the Caddy Smile near pin on the day.
Tuesday 24th – Treasure Hill – Stableford – Yellow Tees
1st – Andy Leach (8) 34 points
2nd – Brendan Gallagher (0) 33 points
3rd – Peter Thomas (20) 32 points
The best value golf course in town attracted a full sign-up sheet and at 1,150 baht for green fee, caddy and buggy this will always be a popular venue. The course is difficult, with little room for error. Condition of the course was very good and we were looking forward to a great day of golf ahead of us.
Scores here are usually on the low side and today was no exception. A mere 32 points saw Peter Thomas on the podium again for third place. TGC resident Brendon Gallagher, that long hitting Aussie who plays off scratch, took second place with 33. No kidding, this guy can belt it out there 320 yards! One point better was Andy Leach and his 34 and his 34 made for best of show for the win. Blake Hanna snuck in there with yet another near pin!
Thursday 26th – Greenwood A & B – Stableford – Yellow Tees
1st – Louis Ventimiglia (21) 42 points
2nd – Alan Rothwell (7) 40 points
T -3rd – Bryan Carroll (17) 39 points
T -3rd – Kenny Aihara (5) 39 points
5th – Bahadur Lidder (15) 37 points
It’s a bit of a haul to get out to Greenwood, but most would agree it is worth the extra 15 minutes for this experience. There are 27 holes here and today our mission was to tackle the A and B tracks. There is a driving range next to the starters kiosk and chipping and putting greens that are now in good shape, so get out here early and get warmed up.
Today is was the return of Lou Ventimiglia for a terrific round of 42 points for the well-earned win over a slew of regulars.
Friday 27th – Khao Kheow – Stableford – Yellow Tees
1st – Peter Thomas (20) net 70
2nd – Alan Rothwell (7) net 71
Due to an unforeseen clerical error (I screwed up), there are only 2 on the results list, so sorry about that to the other guys.
Our winner this month was a guy that has played with us on a very regular basis for a couple of years now. He has had many victories in the past, but surprisingly has never won our Monthly Medal!
With great pleasure, we are most happy to award our first Monthly Medal win of 2017 to Peter Thomas, and a very large Antigua TGC shirt for the win here today. I was mentioning earlier about hot streaks, and this is certainly a good time to be Peter Thomas on the golf course.
With a second and a third earlier this week (with a full sheet of golfers), his win makes for a great return to his winning ways once more. Nice going Pete, your shirt is at the embroidery shop now!
Thanks for playing with The Golf Club guys, we really do appreciate your support!
