Billabong 28/12

Brian Chapman has been the  sponsor for the 12  Billabong Monthly Medals this year through his company Haven Consultants – Financial Advisors – leading to the grand final in March to find the overall champion,  for which all those at the Billabong thank him for his generosity.

This is the last adventure around the Green Valley as we know it for many changes have and will be taking place before this report is published in the Pattaya Mail. The area around the first tee, has been landscaped, the new elaborate entrance area will be finished shortly, Barcelona Valley will make its appearance but we must congratulate the management by acknowledging that 99% of the world’s golf courses have the 18th green by the clubhouse and has made the change. Hopefully this is only the start for there are many problems around the course that need attention in particular the areas surrounding the greens. A good turn out today but the scores varied from good to ‘I wish I had stayed in bed’ it was quite obvious that Tony, Auke and a few others over indulged during the Christmas period and have not yet recovered. There were more scores of 10 recorded today than ever before and even an 11 when the ball stopped on a broken coconut in a hazard. 13 ladies, dressed immaculately in yellow shirts and red shorts, arrived on the 1st tee and it was Miss Poopay missing out to Miss Sa for 3rd spot both on net 72. Miss Som had a superb net 71, despite a 10 on the 7th hole,  to finish 2nd but Miss Tan, had a nightmare start having an 8 on the 1st and a 10 on the 4th, but she recovered brilliantly to win the day with a net 69. Murray Hart lost out to Chaten Patel with a net 72 to finish in 4th spot beaten by just the one shot by Alistair Gall for second place. The winner, for the second time this year, was William Macey with a net 70. The greens are very good at the moment but only three 2s were recorded and they went to Miss Poopay, Chaten Patel and Glyn Davies.
