Growling Swan 7/1

Greenwood – 7th of Jan. 2015

The Queen’s Cowboy comes Thru!
It was 32 excited golfers who set out for the long and tiresome journey to the popular Greenwood GC. One can hardly wait for the roads to be fixed as it will take approx. 20 min. from the trip! Then we will be queuing up to play.
On the buses, banter was somewhat subdued in actual fact it was a quiet journey I guess people took the opportunity to catch on some sleep. Certainly the people that stay in the same Hotel as I do!
We played C & A nines, from the white tees and with hindsight being a wonderful thing we maybe should had gone from the Yellow tees shortening the game by about 400 yards. The sprinklers had given the fairways and approaches to the Green a good soaking. It was avery warm start to the day with the cool change coming thru half way on the back 9.
Welcomes were handed out to Harry Wszola and JJ Harney both returning from visits to their respective countries. Unfortunately along with the welcomes there are the fare wells, we say goodbye to Volker Buley, Peter Greaves, Tony Ryan, Terry Payne and Brent Stanbridge. We wish you all a safe trip and hope you return in the not too distant future.

Back at the Growling Swan, Jockey Young paraded charity dog ‘D-For’ who gratefully received significant donations from the happy clan and they are thanked for their continued contributions. All ‘D-For’ donations go to the PSC to be directed to projects to assist the needy children of Pattaya.
A special thanks goes out to Terry (Farmer) Payne and Brent Stanbridge who asked Peter Grey to organize a pig for the boys after golf. Unfortunately Peter misread what they wanted and organized A Pig on The Spit, what they wanted was a piglet to donate to the local orphanage.
It was bloody good eating anyways thanks guys it was appreciated!
For some serious golf with a dash of fun, the Growling Swan welcomes golfers of all persuasions. We generally play on Mondays and Thursdays at any one of the fine courses around Pattaya. Please contact Peter Grey for bookings or any information on 0861 503086.
