Tropical Golf 27/01
Royal Lakeside ( Stableford) It’s a long way, that said we treat it like any other Course, I put myself in the back seat of Mashi’s car and it just means a longer time to rest my eyes on the way back.
That said we had a really big turnout and we were all away from BJ’s for an early start at the Course. The drive up there was quite smooth and we were soon booked in and at the start and got away on time.
You either like the Course or you do not and on this day a high wind added to the difficulty. With it being so open winds are expected but the Course itself is not difficult if you hit the ball straight in a wind. Well yes that makes it difficult and on this day high scores were not expected to be the norm. A difficult Course to describe as it always seems to me to be a bit average, but it certainly has those who like it. You can at least see what is ahead.
The Course itself was not in bad condition and the greens were difficult but fair, all in all a fine day out. Round over it was into the fine changing rooms, then a bite to eat in the Restaurant and then into cars for the trip back. I am told that as It was a Friday night the roads were very busy but it all seemed to pass like a dream to me. Good old Mashi.
Back at BJ’s it was soon into the results. In the A Flight, 0 to 21, the winner was Mashi Kaneta with 38 points ahead of Bob Britton in second with 37 points. We then had a countback on 36 points that saw Landis Brooks in third and Deryn Neufeld in fourth.
In the B Flight the Winner was Gordon Clegg with 40 points ahead of Dave Cooper in second with 37 points. In third was Don Carmody with 36 points and in fourth was Graham Buckingham with 33 points.
Best front nine was Michael Bent with 19 points and best back nine was Nigel Perry with 22 points.
Then as usual we told the story and had a few ‘Cold Uns’. T.T.F.N.
