Tropical Golf 25/11

25 November 2014: Mountain Shadow( Stableford)

This Course is becoming a constant, last of the Month location for our Group. Probably because they at last manage to fix the showers in the changing room. It was not that the old ones were bad, no, they were really terrible. However I have to admit the new changes are really good and this is before we even got there.

Getting there is not really so bad, and leaving from our new base, The BJ Holiday Lodge, is much easier than we has thought. We seem to find parking close by and many of the Golfers leave their clubs there, as a space is available for them to be left. Also the breakfasts are fine and most players are settling in well. So off we went.

Mountain Shadow these days is a pleasure to play, and on this day the Course was in fine condition, so we played off the Blue Tees hoping for a little bit of run. The Course played well and the ball ran well so the Course became a good test. The Fairways were firm and the rough really difficult to get out of , with greens that played fast a good day out was had by all. And the weather played the game’.

After a good day out it was a pleasure to get into showers that were new and had water at all temperatures. As said, all is well with the World. So a quick bite in the Restaurant, that is basic but serves the need, it was then full ahead back to BJ’s. Surprisingly in such a busy Soi, all the drivers always seem to find a place to park. Good for us.

So onto the results and as this was also the last Tuesday of the Month it was also The MBMG Group Golfer of the Month and this would be the first one at the new venue.

In the A Flight, 0 to 17, the winner was Tom Herrington with a rather tasty 42 points ahead of Robbie Taylor with a very good 40 points. We then had a countback on 37 points that saw Brian Parish in third and AVD in fourth. In the B Flight the scores were not quite as impressive but Mike O’Brien still won with a good 37 points ahead of a 3 way countback on 35 points that saw Ken Grimes in second, Tom McDowell in third and ‘Buckers’ in fourth.

Then onto The MBMG Golfer of the Month and with a win in the B Flight Mike O’Brien stormed home for his first win ever and became the first ever winner at BJ’s. Well done Mike. T.T.F.N.
