Buckers Navigates Crystal Bay
The calendar page turned to November, and the rains that had been threatening golf recently have disappeared. Sunshine and “cool” temperatures greeted the players as they convened for breakfast at BJ’s Holiday Lodge. The fine high season weather, most likely contributed to a good showing of 19 golfers for our trip to today’s course
The regular drivers all know the way to Crystal Bay, however there was no consensus on the preferred route. Some drivers chose to take Sukhumvit, while others preferred the #7, motorway. Traffic was not an issue on either route and everyone arrived well before the scheduled tee time. The course was in nice condition and the fine weather stayed with us all day. As the players returned to the clubhouse and turned in their score cards, the clubs were loaded back into the vehicles and drivers started their chosen route back to Pattaya.
The field was divided into two flights today, and the B (24 +) flight had the top scores of the day. While most of the field played from the white tees, the best score was turned in by Graham Buckingham, teeing from the yellows. Graham totaled an excellent 43 stableford points from his course handicap of 25. Second place went to Daryl Evans (24) with 38 points, and third to Don Carmody’s (30) 35 points.
John Davis (12) topped the A (0 – 23) flight with 37 points. Dick Warberg (23) claimed second with 36, and Mike O’Brien was third with 35 points.
The best front nine, not placing, went to Fred Tam’s 18, while Takeshi Hakozaki had the best back nine score with 19 points.
