Tropical Golf 15/9
John and Mick Score Big At Pattavia!
We’re at the half way point of the month and everyone wants to start making a move for the Golfer Of The Month race. Time to make those points! This Friday the Tropical Golfers headed out to Pattavia Country Club, known as Pattavia Century on Google so no excuse for not finding it. With fifteen golfers signed up in one flight there would be a scramble to get mentioned when the day was done.
Pattavia continues to be in excellent condition for excellent value. Just shy of 1000 bt to walk and you get a restaurant voucher for drinks or food after. What could be better than that? Surprisingly there is something better; put that offer on a course in very good condition! Fairways were excellent, but those greens! The greens are in good shape, but oh so hard to read. Slopes up, down, and sideways were always more than they looked, and it really helps to have an experienced Caddie. To be fair Pattavia needs challenging greens to protect one of the more forgiving layouts in the area. Although many complain about difficult putting, scores are usually on the high side and most certainly that was the case this day.
The big winner for the day was John Pierrel (c/h 14) who played near flawless golf to earn an incredible 43 points. John will tell anyone who listens how he was the goat last week at another venue, but he sure knows how to turn things around! Joining John in the 40+ points category was Mick Coghlan (25) with an equally impressive 41 points. Not often will one take second with that score, but Mick didn’t complain. Much. After that Tom Herrington (18) started the countdown with 38 points, followed by Mashi Kaneta (18) with 37 and Barry Elphick (28) 36.
Best Nine (non-winner): The best half rounds went to John Davis and Dick Warberg.
