Tropical Golf 04/10

Here we go again, off to one of the best Courses around and a bit of sunshine as well. It has been raining of late so there was some concern about how wet the Course was, but on arrival we were told Buggies could be used anywhere, so off went to the first tee. Those who play here regularly know this is a quality Course, it is also a really difficult Course. On this day the test was the C & A nines. A really rough test. The weather seemed to be fine and as we teed off on the first we looked forward to another fine day, and so it proved. We had a three ball , all in carts and zoomed around. The fairways were great, if a little soft and occasionally picked up a little mud, but the rough was really difficult and once you were in it you had to give it the greatest respect.  Once or twice it proved difficult and then lost shots. The greens played well, probably a little slow due to some damp in them but more than reasonable. So we zoomed around and all was fine with the World, until on the 12th hole we came up behind the ‘Drive you mad’ 5 ball. And as per last month they did not let us through.  It really is sad when this happens. I think enough said. Round over it was the normal shower. bite to eat and back to BJ’S , and into the results. In the A Flight, 0 to 18, the winner was Werner Schwartz with 38 points on countback over Tommy Marshall in second and in third was John Pierrel with 37 points on countback over Gerd Riedler. In the B Flight the winner was Dick Warberg with 37 points ahead of a countback on 34 points that saw Patrice Poussier in second and Derek Brook in third. Then as usual it was time to relax.  T.T.F.N. Near Pin   Gerd Riedler   Patrick Poussier  Landis Brooks   Jim Ferris
