The Growling Swan 25/08

Pattavia GC – 25th August 2016

Maurice Roberts Takes August Monthly Mug.

Twenty nine punters gathered in Soi Chaiyapoon eager to take advantage of the great offer put on by Pattavia G.C.

To say the day was warm was an understatement, little or no breeze made it even more uncomfortable. The course was in good nick with the greens playing the way they normally do at this course, but I must admit greens are starting too look tired and sometimes playing that way.

Playing from the white tees we played two divisions and being Monthly Mug Day we were playing Stroke (this sorting the men from the boys)

A Flight gave us our Mug Winner Maurice Roberts with a very tidy Nett 67, second in that division was Mike Johns with Denis Steele and The Coach Mike Gosden filling the other spots.

B Flight saw Alan (The Colonel) Sanders take this out with a good score of net 68 this gave him 1st place in B Flight and only 1 shot away from The Monthly Mug. A great round Colonel. Toddy I will be coming for a lesson or 2. Second in the flight was Rona Carungay, who is playing some good golf at the moment. Be careful Skilts she is out to get you! With Andrew Allen and Bernie McCart filling 3rd & 4th. A special well done to Andrew coming off a harrowing week!

Back at the bar we enjoyed a great chicken stew and listened and told a few tales over quite a few beers. Peter Grey was offering lessons on how to get out of a bunker! Pete a lesson for you and I have seen you play “Don’t go in the bunker”

We welcomed Maurice Roberts, & Paul Quinlivan and bid a fond farewell to 3 good guys, Aaron Shorten, Ron Gillett and Paul Jackson, travel safe lads and look forward to catching up again soon!

D-For was again in full flight once again being paraded by Alex he collected well from the punters at the Swan!

Golf.

The GS is a friendly golf outlet and caters for and encourages all golfers male and female to have a hit at any of our weekly outings. We generally play Mondays and Thursdays at one of the many fine golf courses in and around Pattaya. Please contact Peter Grey if you are interested on 0861 503086.

Bowls

The Growling Swan also caters to the bowls enthusiasts. Bus transport departs the GS on Sundays at 10 AM to play at The Retreat. The cost including return bus transport, bowling fees and a hot lunch is less than 400 baht so great value for a day out.
