The Growling Swan 13/11

Crystal Bay – 13th of November 2014

Kae and Sandy in fine form

A heap of eager golfers faced the challenge to their skill, intestinal fortitude and disseminating perseverance.

Welcomes were handed out to Colm Mullen from Ireland and John Anderson and Mark Stapleton from Australia.

We farewelled Eric (The Judge) Black and Glen Henrikson returning to the Great South Land.

Pre game, J.C.Lhoste lamented he couldn’t pick Michael Jordan out of a room full of pygmies let alone hand in a decent card and twenty two points confirmed his suspicions.

A nice breeze kept playing conditions very pleasant and with the fairways in good shape and the greens having improved immeasurably since our last visit, all players enjoyed the day.

The starter who was as vigilant as the supervisor on the conveyor belt line at the Heineken brewery, sent us on our way to play the C and A nines.

In the A grade Kae continued her good form to hand in thirty eight points.

Second was Don Richardson on thirty seven whilst Mike Gosden scored thirty five points.

In the B grade and working harder than a lemon scented air freshener in a Vindaloo Curry House toilet, popular guy Sandy Leiper scored thirty seven points to stand atop the podium.

Second with thirty six points was Mark Stapleton on a countback from John Anderson who collapsed on the back nine like a dodgy apartment building on the sub continent.

The NAGA was won by Russell Calcutt who confessed to having as much finesse in his hands, read 10%, as the guy who put on Barbara Cartland’s makeup.
