The Gowling Swan 19/11

Plutaluang GC – 19th of November 2014
Jimmy Olsen
A Change of Pace with The Sun and The Don shining.
We ventured out on a Wednesday this week as opposed to the usual Thursday.
Plutaluang was our destination and on such a beautiful sunny day yours truly was starting to think “I hope my score is as good as the conditions we’re facing.”
The track as they say was in great nick and the greens played truly.
Someone told me that my putting left a lot to be desired! Nevertheless some got it right on the day.
We farewelled Bill “Shooter” McGarvie and await his return, hoping it isn’t too soon so as to give we lesser players a chance of a near pin.
Travel safely mate.
On the podium in first place was the evergreen Don Richardson with a good score of 40 points off his handicap of 14.The guy just keeps on going.
All tied up on 36 points, the placegetters in no particular order were Roy Dayton (23), Mike Gosden (15) and Mark Stapleton (21)
Near pins went to Bob Akapita on North 3 whilst Bill “Shooter McGarvie” picked up West 12 and 17 which isn’t bad for a guy who says that he can’t see. Very consistent with near pins.
North 6 did not attract a regulation so a lucky draw was held and won by Ibby.
Long first putts on the 9th and 18th went to Don Richardson.
The coveted Compass Cap was won by Colm Mullen and I would suggest a visit to the optometrist would appear imminent.
Deefa the dog as usual was let out of his kennel to take up his collection and thanks go to those who contributed.
The GS is a friendly golf outlet and caters for and encourages all golfers male or female to have a hit at any of our weekly outings. We generally play Mondays and Thursdays at one of the many fine golf courses in and around Pattaya. Please contact Peter Grey if you are interested on 0861 503086.
The Growling Swan also caters to the bowls enthusiasts. Bus transport departs the GS on Wednesdays at 10 AM to play at Cocos on undercover synthetic greens and on Sundays at the same time for open grass bowling at The Retreat. Please contact Paul Rennison on 0843 454005 if you wish to partake. The cost including return bus transport, bowling fees and a hot lunch is less than 400 baht so great value for a day out
