Brian Tully Leaves The Rest Behind
With low season almost here and many golfers already heading away from the Pattaya Songkran madness, numbers are down from the big crowds we have had for the past few months. However, today we had thirty players which is not a huge drop-off.
Plutaluang’s North and West courses proved to be in very good condition. Some dampness and quite wet patches early in the day had encouraged Phil to call lift, clean and place on the fairways, a good decision as players were not seeing much run.
The greens here are much improved and on both nines were true and had good speed. There was some variation to keep golfers on their toes, some of the greens a little slower than most. The weather was again hot, the same for the whole area right now.
Two flights today at 0-16 and 17+ where the “A” flight was a tight affair at the top.
Huw Phillips is back in-form, again, and took the flight with a respectable 37 points.
Richard Fearby is a two handicap so you would expect him to be thereabouts and he grabbed second spot with 35 points, making the best gross of 75.
Peter Park and Gerner Lykke both scored 34 points, but Peter had a better back nine to finish in third and Gerner fourth.
Brian Tully has returned after a long absence and produced some very good first up form by taking the “B” flight and The Green Jacket with a great 39 points, the day’s top score.
Colin Service has his ups and downs in this game and today was an up. 35 points is a good effort which took him to second place.
Niels-Peter Kristensen is now used to being in the placings and was there again in third with 32 points while Phil Mitchell, who we sung farewell to on Friday, re-appeared to score 30 points. He assured us he is going this time.

Best Back Nine ( non winners) – Pat Lavin…20 pts
There were two players with the lowest score of the day and qualified for the “wig”.
David Beames got the prize because…
Tip Briney not only had the lowest overall score, but also the lowest nine hole score, so he got the “silly hat”, again.
The “silly hat” had a day out today.
Paul Chesney escaped on Friday after announcing his engagement to his Thai girlfriend. Phil reckoned proposing marriage is a silly idea so the “silly hat” caught up with Paul.
Then, yet another silly thing when Paul Stewart, sitting in the back seat of Phil’s car on the trip back was caught out by a policeman and fined for not wearing a seatbelt, this after Phil being pulled over for a license check. He was chuffed that he had one to show.
What we lacked in numbers today was made up for with the enthusiasm of the players at Plutaluang Royal Navy Course.
Pattaya Links Golf Society is a PSC affiliated, friendly group and welcomes golfers of all levels. We play Monday ,Wednesday and Friday.” Links” Bar is towards the Southern end of Soi Buakhow.
