George Mueller Beats a Big Field
Links golfers came out in numbers for today’s round at Khao Kheow. It was pleasing to see eighteen players take on the B and C combination on an overcast day where rain threatened all day, but never arrived while we were on course. The caddies must have been confident as they never made any move to bring out the bag covers.
Tip Briney was pretty happy with himself as he handed in his card. Not only did he score a nice 39 points, but he overcame a wayward driver. After it failed twice, it was consigned to the bag and replaced by the four iron.
Tip thought that 39 points would have got him a win, but not quite, Tip
George Mueller grabbed a 3 pointer on his final putt for the round to take his score to 40 points, and a deserved win.
Dave McKey came good after some fairly ordinary scores to have 35 points which was good for third place.
Craig Webster had a great run a few weeks ago, but went off the boil, but with a steady game today, scored 33 points, and fourth spot.
We had enough players to, at last, have some near pins to try for, and they were won by.
Near Pins: Peter Lacey, Mike Firkin, Huw Phillips, Dave McKey

A lot of overnight rain at the course caused the order for carts on path only, a few groans here, but at the start of our second nine my caddie announced that we could now go on the fairway, relief!
The fairways are well grassed and, surprisingly, quite firm even considering the rain. There were a few muddy patches, where the carts stayed clear, and, in fact, my caddie drove on the rough very often. Speaking of the rough, like most courses, it has not been cut down so the thickness causes some problems.
The greens on the C course were starting to go like many others around this area, black splotches, and some brown tinges around the fringe. However, the greens staff seem to be getting control and, with some sanding and repair work have them looking okay and playing truly.
We always mention the problem tee boxes here. They are coming along, at last, so that we didn’t notice them as much as before.
The really good special price, for October, of 1250 bht all-in, which is supposed to end at Oct.30 is definitely welcome, so we will be back again on Oct.26, just in time.
