Quality Service at Crystal Bay
Wednesday, 29th March saw the stalwarts of the Pattaya Links Golf Society travel to Crystal Bay for a stableford competition on the B and C nines, which were in good condition. After starting on B1 within thirty minutes the golf gods took their revenge for a lull at Treasure Hill two days previously, with a solid thunderstorm which lasted the best part of an hour. Amazingly thirty minutes later the course was dry and the greens had recovered their pace.
Scores were generally good with only a couple of “retirees” finishing their day early, and in third place with 36 points was Mike King. In second, beating Mike on countback was Khun New Satita with 36 points. The winner was Colin Service with an amazing 42 points. To be fair Colin’s golfing pedigree was based in north-east England, which is hardly synonymous with tropical climes!
Technicals were near pins for Christian Boysen (B4), Khun New (B6 and C7) and John Hackett (C4) whilst the best front nine award went to Adam Barton (20 points) and the best back nine to Swiss golfer Marco Beer (18 points).
It had been a long day with the rain break but an enjoyable one for most of the golfers, and there was, after all, Service with a smile!
