Links Golf Society 24/05
It’s Truelove at St Andrew’s
On Wednesday 24th May the Pattaya Links Golf Society visited St Andrew’s to play a stableford round. It was the first visit there for many a month and the welcome was warm even though the weather was dour with humidity near 90% and heavy clouds threatening all day. The course was in good condition though the soft fairways and two-club humidity made a long course seem even longer. As has happened so often recently it was another example of “millionaires’ golf” with hardly a golfer in sight all day.
Yes, scoring was a problem and in third place was Alistair Gall with 34 points. It took a countback to decide the winner and Aussie Steve Truelove’s better back nine topped the leaderboard from compatriot Gary Bolger, both finishing with 36 points.
Elsewhere Mr Len’s abysmal putting drew the attention of M/C Mr Phil but the award of the dreaded wig was waived as the main winner of the day was absent, (but we had an old,but good, photo of Steve.)
1st Place…….Steve Truelove (8)………..36 pts c/back
2nd Place……Gary Bolger (17)………….36pts
3rd Place……Alistaire Gall (19)………..34 pts
Back at the Links Bar in Soi Buakho the “craic” was good and the chicken satays were even better on a day when Truelove conquered all at a tough St Andrew’s.
