Links Golf Society 24/03

 PSC Golf …Pattaya Links Golf Society…..Khao Kheow…. Friday Mar. 24( S/Ford)

Raise Your Glasses for a Beer !

Marco Beer made his first appearance at “Links” ( not his first in Pattaya) to record a terrific 40 points at the often difficult, but beautiful Khao Kheow Golf Course.

Paul Walia, long time Pattaya visitor, also made his first appearance with us and took 2nd place in the “A”Flight only 1 point behind Marco.

Dave Moriaty, in his last game before heading back to the  USA will be quite surprised when he learns that he won “B”Flight with just 33 points. ( he didn’t make it to the presentations). He will be even more surprised to know that Larry Slattery also heading home( to Ireland) only needed 31 points to finish 2nd on a countback.

Such was the day! Many scores were well below what we would have expected. Why?

Certainly nothing wrong with the course because, as always, Khao Kheow is presented in great condition. Fairways are well grassed and the greens are as difficult as we make them.

Yes, the weather had turned quite warm with very little breeze, sometimes none, that even in carts it was hard work, so I take pity on the walkers today.

There were nearest the pin prizes set up on each of the par 3s, but only 3 bore any names. Sometimes it’s even hard for A graders to get on in one shot..

So, after extracting all the winning cards, it is left to the rest of us to hopefully win a “Best 9”. The two best were Peter Wilson and Huw Phillips.

With “only” 23 starters the sorting of prize getters was done quickly and presentations conducted by Club Captain Mike King. And then the complimentary golfer’s meal was served.
