You Beat Handicap – You Win
The twenty nine golfers were all excited to be going to Greenwood on this day as they loaded themselves into the buses 15 minutes before departure time.
The weather was fine but a dark cloud hung over the city for some time and produced nothing.
We had a very good price for a public holiday and were presented a golf course in excellent condition, and given a two tee start.
Greenwood has not yet commenced low season maintenance, as some have, so fairways and greens are top notch. The greens, although looking quick were just a little slower than that but everyone felt good playing them.
The weather stayed fine and hot but with some cloud cover and was not as oppressive as recently. A storm did threaten but came to nothing.
With a course in such great condition, players were scoring freely to the extent that Maurice decided to have one flight and award a prize to everyone who bettered their handicap.
Consequently, there were six prizes down the list. Scores overall ranged from 41 points to 29 points. Hard to believe that 29 points gets you the “wig”.
Near pins went to Jamie Booterbaugh ( C3) and (C6), Simon Niven (B2), Kevin Rogers (B5).

If the guy in the “silly hat” looks familiar, yes, it’s that Irishman, Derek Phillips, wearing his favourite colour.
From the Penthouse to the Outhouse for Craig Brodey as he came back to reality following his 46 points on Monday to have the lowest score for Wednesday of just 29 points and his first time wearing the “wig”.
Thanks to Greenwood for a terrific price and a beautifully presented golf course.
