Tip Briney Toughs It Out
Another trip to the challenging Treasure Hill Golf Course by an intrepid few. After withdrawls and no shows we numbered only 10 players, determined to beat this course at it’s own game.
However, Treasure Hill was at it’s teeth bearing best ( or worst) and did not allow anyone to play to handicap. Tip Briney came closest with a modest, but good enough to win the day, 35 points.
This course is as green as ever, but as with most golf clubs at this time, the greens had been recently cored and sanded, the Greenkeeper hoping for rain. Therefore things became a little tricky making putts. Apart from speed, or lack of, it seemed the ball would deviate at the last inch just when it looked “in”. We thought it was only our group, but others reported the same concerns.
Fairways are in their usual good condition, but there is still the usual lamenting over the crabgrass in the rough. As one player said “it grabs your club and turns it sideways”. Somehow we need to play it. Hence the challenge..
Tip Briney’s 35 points was way in front of the next best, that of Lee Lepper’s 31 points and then John Anderson on 30 points rounded out the Podium.
Just beating a thunderstorm, we arrived back to Links Bar early for the complimentary meal and presentations.
Tip was quite chuffed that the Green Jacket fitted so well, made for him??
Visitor Simon Niven was ready to happily accept that he would wear the “Wig” when Phil tried it on him for size. But no, it was once again Niels-Peter stepping up for the photo.
Winner …….Tip Briney (23)………35 pts
2nd Place… …Lee Lepper (9)……….31 pts
3rd Place…….John Anderson (27)….30 pts
