                               Mt.Shadow, A Shadow of it’s Former Self.

Mt.Shadow is a good, if difficult golf course. Certainly has you thinking. At one time not so long ago was held up as an example to it’s sister course, Crystal Bay, which had fallen in quality ( particularly the greens). A newspaper commentator at the time suggested the greenkeeper at Crystal Bay should get some lessons from Mt.Shadow.

Now the boot is on the other foot and Mt.Shadow is falling behind. ( maybe the greenkeeper changed courses). The rough is rough, the greens need work and the Clubhouse and Locker room are looking tired. The course is apparently up for sale, so hopefully someone will spend some time and money and bring it back to it’s former glory.

What about our golfers today? There were 15 of them after 4 Canadians got lost after breakfast and missed the bus.

Golf is a game where one or two in a group can have a day when scoring is not so good. But everyone on the same day!

On a day that started with rain in Pattaya overnight, then a sprinkle on the first tee became clear and a little cooler to make for a comfortable round.

The one shining light was Len Jones the only player to better handicap, scoring a steady 37 points off his c/h 28.

Visting from the UK, Lee Rodman (c/h10) was excited to get 2nd place with 34 points and filling 3rd spot Danish visitor Soren Kuster (c/h 18) with 31 points.

Our other prizes are “2s”. If no one wins, the prize jackpots. Well! That didn’t happen today as we had 4 winners getting “2s” to share the pot. Excitable Lee was one of them and wished to spread his good fortune with everyone in his range of vision . Drinks for all. !! Good onya Lee ( Aussie expression !!)
