“Colm Mullen returns a great score to blitz the field”

Wednesday night we had a field of nineteen golfers but unfortunately come Thursday morning we were looking at fifteen golfers. That’s life!

The challenge today was at King’s Naga GC, two buses and a couple of travelers by car set out to have a go at this course. Course was in good nick, and was offering quite a bit of run. The fairways had only just been mowed which left golfers (some) with lye’s that were not affected by the grass, Bunkers were clean and Greens were very misleading. Some were on the quick side and some were on the slow side.

We offered a word of warning after our last visit, “A word of warning for those venturing out to King’s Naga, road works are under full steam and you can be caught up for an extra half hour both in and out.” Well our drivers found an alternate route which reduced our travel time. Well done Oy!

Well we had four groups which were in position and I guess we got away about 10 min earlier than what was our Tee time. There was nobody in front of our groups and our group did not see any other golfers till we were on the 17th (they were coming up the 2nd fairway!

Our numbers dictated that we would be playing one flight only with four placings on the podium. As always all novelties were to be in play.

Colm Mullen set things alight returning to scale with a great score of 41 Points. Second was a golfer that is rarely out of the frame, he was four shots behind the winner and that was of course Keith Buchanan. Third home was a result of a three way count back, winning the count back at third was Tony Cook. Second in the count back and collecting fourth place on the podium was Alex Field. As per always one has to miss out (when 4 are vying for 3 spots) Dave Maw , who has won a few count backs was the unlucky golfer to miss out.
