Field Leads Field
Twenty punters assembled today looking forward to the challenge ahead.
Welcomes were handed out to Gary Jones, Craig Duncan, Peter Bailey, Howard Jeglum and John Edwards.
Howard was wished well, returning to Vancouver Island, Canada.
The weather was warm however a gentle breeze made playing conditions quite pleasant.
Change room badinage was in abundance with one visiting Melbournian commenting, another day’s punishment lay ahead as he’d played little golf in the last few months.
He was of the opinion that chances of a podium finish were remote, as his last decent score coincided with English comedian Jimmy Edwards efforts in grooming his first moustache.
Sadly his prediction was correct.
The greens as per usual were tricky and parts of some fairways were drier than an AA meeting.
In the A grade Alex Field on the first nine took longer to get cranked up than a council road gang however lifted his game on the flipside, handing in thirty three points to stand atop the podium. Pierre Cere with thirty two and Peter Bailey with twenty nine rounded it out.
In the B grade Mike Gosden scored thirty six points, Mr. Consistency John Anderson thirty five with John Coetzee mustering thirty four to come in third.
Results.
