Growling Swan 21/8

BURAPHA GOLF CLUB – Monday 21st August 2017

By J Olsen

30 odd golfers rocked up to the picturesque Khoaw Kheow golf course to take on C and A nines, to the surprise and delight of all, Mike Gosden made a surprise return from Australia, where he has been recuperating following extensive surgery here earlier this year.

Some were disappointed that the par three Alcatraz hole on B course would be missed today, but the majority of players were considering themselves lucky to be able to save some predictable lost balls!

Middle distance tees were selected as the course had no rain over the past two days, and with a steady breeze blowing the day’s outing was set to be relatively comfortable.

Despite ideal conditions, only one player managed to better their handicap. Young Brad Todd continuing in fine form, top scored with 37 points in his B grade followed jointly by dad, Martin Todd, in A grade and Anthony Cook in C grade both with 35 points.

Steve Younger deserves a special mention for winning three of the four nearest pins and outright 3 rd in A grade.

Stu Rifkin tried his heart out (literally) and ended up at hospital in the early hours of the next morning with chest pain complaints!

The GS is a “friendly” golf outlet and caters for and encourages all golfers, young and old, male or female to have a hit on any of our weekly outings. We generally play Mondays and Thursdays at one of the many fine golf courses in and around Pattaya. Please contact Peter Grey if you are interested in playing on 0861 503086.
