STABLEFORD – Burapha – 21st of June 2018.

By PRH Grey

“The Turtle” was far too good for the Field.

On this warm, sultry day we headed to Burapah (I believe it is the best course we play) with no chance of rain we were looking at a good day for golf. Unfortunately the day did get hotter and, with little or no breeze it was a bit uncomfortable.

The numbers were up a little from last week giving us seventeen starters, we played from the white tees and played nine’s A & B in that order. The course (as usual) was in great nick, fairways were pristine and on all reports the greens were playing true. I am not sure that Buffalo Bill will agree with me on that! Also the price being offered to us was right.

Everything about this course is great it’s such a shame that we only get to play there for a short period of time per year, we could add this course to our playing list every month if pricing was the same. But we are guided by what is the ridiculous time that is referred to as Seasonal. When will people get it through their heads that Seasons (high and Low) no longer exists.

One can only hope that the people that are in charge of this great course read this and take these comments on board! If interested we will be prepared to commit ourselves for the year!

Andrew Allen turned up with his game head on and took to the course with gay abandon, his 22 points on the front nine and 18 on the back nine giving him a return of 40 points, what a great score! Second past the post was Denis Steele, (welcome back to the winners circle mate) only one shot behind the winner. Third and fourth places went to the count back system to separate three golfers. Winning the count back thus getting third place was evergreen Mashi Kaneta with Ted Morris filling fourth placing. The unlucky golfer that missed the podium was Buffalo Bill Steinmann.

Winners at Burapah.

1st Andrew Allen (34) 40 pts.

We welcomed back Ted Morris, Ron Gillett and Allan Ray, we also welcomed a new golfer in Lee Leeper. We then said goodbye to Volker Buley and Andy Zwart. Volker is returning home and Andy is heading off on holiday. Good luck to you both and travel safe!

Our resident hound D-For was once again let from his chain to collect donations from the generous punters and golfers. They are thanked for their generosity as these guys do not stop giving. To date The Growling Swan has given over B400K to help the needy of Pattaya.

The GS is a friendly golf outlet and caters for and encourages all golfers male and female to have a hit at any of our weekly outings. We generally play Mondays and Thursdays at one of the many fine golf courses in and around Pattaya. Please contact Peter Grey if you are interested on 0861 503086. Or call at the bar and put your name down.
