“The Jock may not be the biggest bloke but he certainly left his mark on today’s game.”

Well we started with twenty golfers but alas with one No-Show we had only nineteen to start the day.

Heading out today to one of our favorite courses Crystal Bay, will be interesting as to how the course shapes up given the lack of rain and how dry it was on our last visit.

Playing from the Yellow (and Red) Tees we attacked B and C nines in that order. Have to say that the course looked in very good nick but as we got further along it was starting to show that it was dry and in need of a good drenching. Although the weather was a little on the warm side playing conditions were not too bad, a slight breeze did prevail which certainly helped. With the dryness the run was quite good and golfers took advantage of that. Greens were good, bunkers were hard (at times) but clean. All in all it was a good day with reasonable conditions so, Game On!

Today’s numbers allowed us to play the one flight only, twenty gives us two flights and again with all the novelties in play. In regards to the novelties if a long putt or Near Pin does not go off we will then have a draw (out of all the non-winners).

It was Shane “The Jock” Young that came up trumps, having played in his group I was amazed as to how well he played. Returning with 43 points, 3 ahead of his nearest opponent. Second home was ever reliable Keith Buchanan. Third home was Jock’s playing partner Steve Younger with Roy dayton and Mikito Homma filling the last two spots on the podium.

Back at the Swan we welcomed back The Colonel Allan Sanders, Martin Todd & Roger Ellis. We had to then sadly say goodbye to Mikito Homma and Colm Mullen both returning home to their respective countries. We wish you both safe travels and hope that it’s not too long till we see you again.

It’s amazing that us as Aussies all have nick names and like to give others a nick name. At times we are not sure as to how others react. Well golfer Dave Maw has been playing with us for some time now and a new nick name has appeared “Is there any.” Not sure if it was accepted or did it go over like Led Zepplin! Well correcting the markers (long Putt & Near Pins) hole 9 Long First Putt The Marker read “ANY”, guess we can say accepted! Good on you Dave!

Alex set D-For from his chain to collect for the needy of Pattaya. We give thanks to those who choose to give, any small change will do. The Golfers and Punters from The Growling Swan are thanked for the generous efforts!
