“Steve Younger returns to the Top of the Podium.”

In starting this report this morning I have received some very sad news, Mike Winfield had lost his battle and has passed away. Mike was a Café Kronberg Golfer that turned out for us on the odd occasion, he leaves behind his loving wife Ann and family, he was also a great mate and walking/eating buddy of Stuart Rifkin’s.

I am sorry to say that this report may be missing some information, I am embarrassed to announce that my run sheet went missing so some info will be correct and the rest I will make up as I go! If I have missed something or someone I do apologize.

With 10 am tee time and all golfers arriving well in advance we headed off. It was only the one bus that left heading for “The Old Plantation Course” Sad to say that only fifteen chanced their arm today as I believe that this is a better course than some and deserves a better turn out than this!

As per usual The Course was in great nick, there were no complaints as such, (well there were complaints about the speed of the greens), that never changes Greens on this course are deadly, always have been always will be.

We did play Lift clean and place as there was some water lying in certain places on the fairway. Apart from being damp in a few spots the fairways were good and the weather was sensational not too hot and no signs of rain! With fifteen golfers we played the one division only with three placing’s and we had all novelties in play!

It was Steve Younger who returned to the winning circle after a bad run of injuries, getting knocked over by a “Rampaging Elephant” was the one injury that I thought that he would not survive. But, here he is climbing to the top of The Podium with 38 points. Second was Keith Buchanan finishing only the one shot behind. Well they say lightning doesn’t strike twice, but in as many weeks we had another tie, two golfers could not be separated, Peter Bye & Alex Field!

1st Steve Younger 16) 38 pts.

2nd Keith Buchanan 14) 37 pts.

3rd Tied could not be separated, Alex Field 18) & Peter Bye 15) 34 pts.

Back at the Swan we welcomed Alan Sanders, and Paul Sharples but unfortunately we had to say goodbye to Ebby (Ibrahim Al-Ansari) who is heading home and will not join us again till The New Year. Travel safe my good friend!!

Aaron Shorten set resident charity hound D-For from his chain and gratefully received donations from the players and punters, they are all thanked for their continued contributions. D-For is renowned for his charity collection, and continues to do a great job!.
