CRYSTAL BAY G.C. – 16th August, 2018.

PRH Grey.

“It’s that man Riley again, when will this stop.”

Playing one of our favorite courses today, a course that is very popular with our golfers. We had a 10 am tee time and all golfers had arrived well in advance. Two buses left well in front of our allotted time for departure!

As popular as this course generally is, we could only muster eighteen golfers for this days event, a bit of a disappointment but that’s how it goes..

As per usual The Course was in great nick, we saddled up to play Courses B & A and played them in that order teeing off in front of our allotted time. Still not a lot of golfers on courses. All good, no complaints regarding the condition of the course but then again we rarely get complaints regarding this course. Fairways were good, greens putted true and the weather was sensational, not too hot and no signs of rain! Eighteen players gave us the one division only with three placings and we had all novelties in play!

It was Frank Riley again, “Like a fine bottle of Red Wine he is getting better with age.” Thirty eight points put him ahead of the pack for the second time in a week. Great stuff “Sir Francis”, let’s hope that there are a few more wins under your belt. Second placing went to the count back, thirty seven points saw Rocky Lawson (who is going well this trip) all tied up with newcomer Jack Penny after 18 holes. Jack won the count back with Rocky filling the last placing on the podium.

1st Frank Riley 25) 38 pts.

2nd Jack Penny Coetzee 18) 37 pts.

3rd Rocky Lawson 20) 37 pts.

Back at the Swan we welcomed Jack Penny but unfortunately we had to say goodbye to Frank Riley, Ian Jessiman and lifetime friend Tony Campbell, I have been told with Tony going a few of the restaurants have started to lay off staff. You will be missed Big Fella!

Alex set resident charity hound D-For from his chain and gratefully received donations from the players and punters, they are all thanked for their continued contributions. D-For is renowned for his charity collection, and continues to do a great job!.
