EMERALD G.C. – 13th August, 2018 STABLEFORD.

PRH Grey.

“Sir Francis Riley C.E.O Qantas takes it out.”

We were booked into play Emerald GC, today being The Mother’s Day gazetted holiday. Emerald did us a deal for the day and as they say, “The rest is history.”

Nineteen golfers headed out while the threat of rain remained in the background, all were looking forward to having a go at this great course.  This was a course that was in very good nick, the only complaint that I did hear was “Although the course was dry we had little run on the Fairways.” Greens also had been sanded recently but once you get used to them it was fine.

Nineteen players gave us the one division only with four placing’s and we had all novelties in play!

It was Frank Riley that showed he still has it, his return of 41 points was enough to take out the day’s event. A great score Frank well done. Coming in second was John Coetzee who was beaten by the shortest of Margins. Third past the post was Denis Steele with Steve Younger filling the fourth spot on the podium.

1st Frank Riley (25) 41 pts.

2nd John Coetzee (20) 40 pts.

3rd Denis Steele (15) 38 pts.

4th Steve Younger (16) 35 pts.

5th Aaron Shorten.

7th Denis Steele.

13th Brad Todd.

15th Martin Kempton.

9th Mashi Kaneta.

18th Rocky Lawson.

In the photo we have 3 out of the 4 place getters from L to R; John Coetzee, Frank Riley and Steve Younger!

Back at the Swan we welcomed back Brad Todd, Aaron Shorten and Ian Jessiman. We had no farewell to mention.

There was a complaint lodged and as we do we take these very serious. The complaint relates to an apparent footprint left on the Green near the hole directly in the line of the person filling the complaint. We contacted the course and they checked the Green in question and as far as they are concerned the complaint leaves nothing to be answered! Job done!

Tony Campbell set resident charity hound D-For from his chain and gratefully received donations from the players and punters, they are all thanked for their continued contributions. D-For is renowned for his charity collection, and continues to do a great job!.

For serious golfing with a dash of fun, the Growling Swan welcomes golfers of all persuasions, be it young or old, male or female.
