GROWLING SWAN GOLF REPORT

STABLEFORD

PATTAVIA – THURSDAY 11TH MAY 2017

By:  Cassa

DENNIS AND COLM FIGHT IT OUT, IT GOES TO THE COUNTBACK!

A few buses and cars were used to ferry those who wanted to take on the fairly tough Pattavia golf course today.

The greens are always going to determine a winner here, as one needs to give serious thought to approach shots so as to try to leave the ball on the lower side of same.

Despite recently returned absentee golfers Geri Crilly, Shane Young and Peter Bye sprouting about taking the course apart, (over heard in locker room chatter) there were no scintillating scores handed in by them. It was only Geri Crilly who succeeded, by pocketing funds from his fellow playing partners courtesy of the names afore mentioned.

Breaking news is that Peter Grey, who has been sidelined for the past six months with health issue, has stated that he will be making a comeback next week. He has placed his name in the last available group as he claims he is that slow at present that the buses will be able to bring everyone home before he finishes his round!

Today however, the pace was fairly brisk despite being uncomfortably hot at times.

Stuart Rifkin elected to walk for exercise purposes (and save some baht …… well they don’t call him Stu the Jew for nothing!) and was thoroughly shown up by his caddie. She was a lithe young thing who was given the nick name “Greyhound” and “Silver snake” by fellow players in the group. She was that quick that the guys in buggies had trouble keeping up and Stuart was left floundering!

The white tees were used and Dennis Steele (Steeley) was the eventual winner with a count back required to separate him from our Irish visitor Colm Lawlor, both who scored 38 points. One point further back was Stuart Rifkin, who managed to finish his marathon walk and hold on for third placing.

Steeley now has a few envelopes in the safe at the Swan ready for collection!

Back at The Growling Swan presentations, our host Peter Grey welcomed back Geri Crilly, Peter Bye and Shane Young and bid a fond adieu to Rudy Regenass who is returning to Cape Town South Africa for five months.

Peter kindly provided another lovely big pot of Thai cooked food which went down a treat. Thanks Peter and staff!

D-For the charity dog was again passed around whereby all golfers and some patrons also, generously donated toward this remarkable furry charity fella!

For serious golfing with a dash of fun (and compulsory sledging), the Growling Swan welcomes golfers of all persuasions. We generally play on Mondays and Thursdays at any one of the fine courses around Pattaya. We also encourage women to play. Please contact Peter Grey for bookings or any information on 086 1503 086.
