“Ian ward too good for the rest”.

“The Dirty Dozen”, or maybe the lucky twelve.

Yes we took off from the Swan with twelve eager golfers all ready to have a crack at Eastern Star. The new revamped Eastern Star, the club house has been completed and all cart paths installed all is good for this course. As the course has offered us a fair and reasonable rate for the days play we will be back to play again!

The course was in great nic, as you would expect, fairways were good, greens were a little fast but ran true. Bunkers were clean all was good for our day. The weather was somewhat on the warm side but one would think that that is better than the alternative, rain and this is Thailand!

Numbers dictated that we were playing one flight with three placing’s with all six novelties in play.

Well it was Ian Ward that showed the way, his 38 points were enough to get him past the post clear of the trest of the guys! Second and third saw our famous count back come into play. It was Colm Lawlor and Colin Stielow that both finished with the same amount of points. So we go to the back nine to sort out as to whom gets the nod. As it was Colm Lawlor finished with a stronger back nine leaving third spot for Colin Stielow, returning to the winners circle.

RESULTS FROM EASTERN STAR.

1ST – Ian Ward (11) 38 points.

2ND – Colm Lawlor (14) 36 points.

3RD – Colin Stielow (24) 36 points.

Our host made all golfers welcome, but we had to say goodbye to Troy Pickford and Alex Field both returning to Aussie. Alex is going on family business, and Troy’s holiday has finished. We wish you both safe travels!

Following the presentations Alex took D-for around for donations to add to the tally of baht that continues to be so generously given by players and patrons of the Growling Swan.

For serious golfing with a dash of fun (and compulsory sledging), the Growling Swan welcomes golfers of all persuasions. We generally play on Mondays and Thursdays at any one of the fine courses around Pattaya. We also encourage women to play. Please contact Peter Grey for bookings or any information on 086 1503 086.
