The Growling Swan 09/05

James Olsen

“The Brizz” Makes it 2 in a row.

We had 14 golfers eagerly awaiting the trip up The 331 to the popular and ever so cheap Greenwood Country Club. Green fee cart and caddie B1050, not bad !!!!!

On the buses, banter was all about the travel time to the course. At last month’s visit to Greenwood, travel time was a flat 45 mins as opposed to the previous hour plus trips. Our time of travel was approx. 55 min, cannot wait for the roadworks to finish!

On playing here last month reports were nothing short of excellent, condition of the course was spot on as was yet again this visit. Fairways had grass and the greens although hard did play true. We played A & B nines, off the white tees and at over 6,200 yards, the tricky par 5’s sorted many out as well as the long par 3’s (for some). Weather was quite warm with little or no breeze to report.

It was quite obvious early that his holiday in Aussie had recharged the batteries, Sal Brizzi was out to prove that Thursday was no fluke. He finished on top for the day with 40 pionts, coming in second was Terry Steilow with our resident scorer taking the third place on the podium.

LAWN BOWLS

The Growling Swan also caters to the bowls enthusiasts. Bus transport departs the GS on Sunday mornings at 10 am for open grass bowling at The Retreat. The cost including return bus transport, bowling fees and a hot lunch is about 350 baht, so great value for a day out!
