Growling Swan 05/12

The Don in fine form with 40 Points!

We had 27 starters waiting eagerly to depart the Growling Swan for a trip north to tackle Pattavia GC, or sometimes known as The Plantation Course. For those who haven’t played this fine course, it is a Sir Nick Faldo design, lost in the middle of pineapple plantations. s. The course is developed on hilly country and well laid out, with some great ‘thinking’ holes. Its signatures are the extremely ‘slick greens’ and being recently renovated, it is probably the best value for money in the region.

I have to say that on arrival at the course I have never seen so many cars in the car park. With most courses charging holiday pricing it appears that somebody at this course got it right and decided to charge normal price for the day. It is the busiest that I have seen a course, and the numbers did not slow us at all. I was also amazed to see at the completion of our game there were still plenty waiting to play!

We played from The Yellow Tees, playing approx. 6100 and the Caddies, as per usual were great for the day and added to the day.

The weather was spot on you could not have ordered it any better a bit of cloud cover, a slight breeze and not at all comfortable

With 2 Flights Don Richardson made it clear from the start that he was out to play and his excellent score of 40 points made sure of that. Second, third and fourth went to the countback with John Edwards tipping out Peter Bailey with Jim Groves filled the fourth posy on the podium.

B Flight saw Dick Braimbridge take the cookies with 37 points, followed closely by JC Lhoste (2 shots back) Fritz Webber came in third with crowd favourite Tony Cook taking fourth.
