Knox Easily Holds the Fort!
A good size field of 30 golfers headed out to Treasure Hill to be welcomed with a very cheap round of golf, B1000 all inclusive & a course in good condition. The conditions were overcast and with little wind about it was a wee bit humid.
Greetings were handed out to Mark West, John Hall, Callum McCann, Craig Duncan, Gary Jones, Hugh Knox, Richard Shutt & Uncle Lindsay Slender, who was returning after a great trip to the UK to attend his daughter’s wedding.
A Grade was won by the old master himself Martin Todd, whose 31 points on a tricky Treasure Hill course was sufficient to get the chocolates from another consistent performer in Mashi Kaneta, with Steve Younger taking 3rd. This meant that Steve won a side challenge (City Garden V Urban) against Alex Field. Rumour has it Steve has approached the City Garden Sales Office to get the Sales Staff to also record golf handicaps as new tenants arrive, so that he can go on a recruitment drive to crush the Urban!
In B Grade, Hugh Knox smashed the field with an outstanding 41 points. That is a great round of golf right there! His score was well clear of Mark West with third place going to Rona Carungay who rarely misses a placing these days.
C Grade saw Shane “Jockey” Young win despite having to fend off a red ant attack of gigantic proportions. He was reported to say that he was entitled to a free drop as for him they have weapons of mass destruction! A surprise chip in was reportedly met with a jaw drop of equal gigantic proportions by one P.R.H.Grey who had a wee match play stake in the balance. John Anderson filled second spot by way of a Countback from Patrick Poussier.

Back at the Growling Swan we enjoyed a tasty chicken and potato meal, which was quickly demolished. As it happens and as the beer flowed so did the stories, and as the night got longer the stories got better.
D-For was let off his chain to collect donations, the Swan’s players and punters are a very generous bunch and keep giving to D-For. All are thanked for their continued contributions to assist the needy children of Pattaya.
For serious golfing with a dash of fun (and compulsory sledging), the Growling Swan welcomes golfers of all persuasions. We generally play on Mondays and Thursdays at any one of the fine courses around Pattaya. We also encourage women to play. Please contact Peter Grey for bookings or any information on 086 1503 086.
Bowls
The Growling Swan also caters to the bowls enthusiasts. Bus transport departs the GS on Sundays at 10.00 am for open grass bowling at The Retreat. The cost including return bus transport, bowling fees and a hot lunch is less than 400 baht so great value for a day out.
