Sunday 16th April

Green Valley

A suprising No for today with so many leaving town this week 2 x 4 balls, and a very quiet Green Valley, We teed off at our normal time of 8.48 am with 3 clear holes ahead of us ,1st group out J.P. Maffray, Chris Martin, Paul West and the Donkey. There must have been a bit of red wine still washing about there as he parred the 1st 2 holes then missed an easy birdie on the 3rd and 2 lipouts on the next 2 holes then the enevitablethe par’s turned to bogies & doubles not another par all round for a total 34 pts. Paul was a different story steady as a rock 19pts front & 20pts back this is the man with the golden putter.Chris had a nightmare start after claiming his Hcp was too high 3 blobs in the 1st 5 holes to be out in  12pts & back in 16pts J.P. was not his happy self and we all learnt a few new French phrases 30pts. The next group out Greg Kath,Stan Smith, Jorn Finnerup & John Dearden. Greg with 2 birdies and 2 par’s managed to scrape together35 pts,His mate Stan had 3 blobs for 33pts,Jorn spoilt a good card on the front with a blob on No 5 to finish 31pts J.T.B. wished he’d stayed in Pattaya and played water fights.

Monday   17th April

10 players today trying to escape from the madness for a few hrs , Pattavia with an all in price of 1350 bht including buggy a welcome escape. 2 x 3 balls and a 4 x ball, Weather cloudy and windy helping to keep the temp down.1st group out Paul West ,Mogen’s Jensen & the Donkey. The fast improving Mogen’s off to a flying start with all his shots and making the most of them out with 23 pts The Donkey hanging on with 20 pts, Paul a slow start but finished the front nine with 2 par’s. But as always it’s a case of 2 nines Mogen’s started to drop a few shots, Paul Kept the Par run going to have 8 holes gross par to finish with 23 pts on the back,But this was just the challenge the Donkey needed matching Paul’s back nine to finish 43 pts. The next group out not quite so high scoring here but Chris after a slow start had 22 pts on the back with 1 blob, Stan  had a great start with 23 pts on the front, but then a massive collapse on the back 6 pts Greg just 24 pts.The final group Mick Coghlan, Barry Oat’s ,Tip Briney & Odd Holm –Hansen .Here it was 2 old foe’s battling it out shot for shot, Mick just taking it with one shot on the front from  Barry 20 / 19pts and on the back Barry was just getting his nose in front when Mick chipped in for a 2 for 5 pts to make 20/20 pts  for a total 40pts ,The other 2 players Tip & Odd were both making hard work of it when Odd also chipped in on the 18th for 4 for 5 pts for 33pts Tip had no such luck all day long 26 pts.

Pleasant Valley

Nine golfers today with 6 in the comp.everyone not back in town yet. Pleasant Valley very quiet, We had 3 x 3 balls and went round in 3 ½ hrs The course its self in good condition only spoiled by a few leaking sprinklers, We played from the blue tees with the exception of holes No 8 & 12 where we played from the white tees. Mike Alidi playing from his 5 hcp made mince meat of the front nine with 24 pts 3 under gross, but then struggled a bit on the back with 2 blobs for 14pts. The Donkey even after a poor start kept his run going with 16pts on the front and 18pts on the back, There was a near pin on No 5 & longest 1st putt on No 18 but neither were claimed.

!st     Mike Alidi       (5)             38 pts
