BOTH BYGBALLE AND CLEGG DEMOLISH GREENWOOD WITH 44 POINTS
CAFÉ KRONBORG AT GREENWOOD 28th JAN 2019
Cafe Kronborg played Greenwood on Monday 28th January where conditions were ideal with the greens running true at a lovely pace and the yellow tee boxes positioned at the correct distances. The wind was just a cooling breeze to keep players from overheating and even the journey to the course was under one hour with no holdups.
Expectations were that some low scores would be made, but only 4 players managed to beat their handicap. However, two players were a cut above the rest and took advantage of the conditions to the max.
Back in the clubhouse the presentation started with a warm round of applause thanking Rob Brown and Peter Hammond for helping the ever present Dave Richardson with running the competitions whilst my wife and I were in South America in December, eating great steaks and drinking copious amounts of Malbec.
There were 2 flights with the A flight 0 to 22 and the B flight 23 and above.
The A Flight winner was Peter Bygballe with an amazing 44 points, beating second placed Ty Anderson by 5 points, Tys 39 points being well respectable in its own right. Peter was showing signs of a return to form with a great 21 points on the back nine at Pattavia last Monday. In third place was Richard Kubicki with a fine 37 points, despite the expanded South American waistline. Not to be left out Carole Kubicki was 4th with 34 points. There must be something good in those Argentinian steaks.
In B Flight Gordon Clegg also had an amazing 44 points to take first place. I guess his handicap will come back down very quickly. Just to highlight how good Gordon’s score was, second, third and fourth place was decided on countback with 3 players having only 30 points, 14 points less than Gordon! Second was Ulla Ravn winning countback with 17 points on the back and 12 points on the last 6 holes. Tiziano Dal Pastro was third with 11 points on the last 6 holes and fourth was Birgit Jorgensen with 12 points on the back nine.
Well done to Peter and Gordon for their outstanding scores. Look forward to seeing Gordon in the A Flight soon!
