Cafe Kronborg 22/1
ROB BROWN CONTINUES TOP FORM WITH ANOTHER 40 POINTER
CAFÉ KRONBORG AT GREENWOOD 22nd JAN 2018
Cafe Kronborg played at Greenwood on Monday 22nd January, where the harder C & A courses were the challenge for the day. The courses were in great condition, with C greens running slightly slower than the A greens which were quite quick, especially on downhill putts. Greenwood has some of the best greens around and they always run true, regardless of speed.
Our bus drivers had discovered the benefit of heading for the 331 at km 101 on the 7 and in less than an hour we arrived at the sultry Greenwood course. Lots of water and heading for the shade at every opportunity was the order of the day.
Tee off was on time and we played the harder C nine first. The round went well with no undue delays despite it being very busy, the dreaded 5 balls had been banished to the other nines thankfully. The cards showed that the course had played fair and you needed to be near to your handicap to have a chance of a prize.
There were 2 flights with the A flight 0 to 21 and the B flight 22 and above.
The A Flight winner was Rob Brown with the best score of the day for the second consecutive round, a superb 40 points off his reduced 9 handicap, another round in the 70’s off the stick. In 2nd place was Brian Gabe with a solid 37 points, one of only 3 people to beat their handicap. Third and fourth places were decided on countback, with 2 players having 34 points. Peter Bygballe took 3rd with 19 points on the back and Richard Kubicki took 4th with 16 points on the back.
In B Flight Gordon Clegg was the winner with a solid 37 points. Gordon being one the three people to beat their handicap and finding a bit of form after his recent dramatic handicap reductions. In 2nd place was John Ostrom with 36 points, another good performance from John hitting his handicap for the second time in 3 rounds. Third and fourth places were again decided on countback, with 2 players having 35 points. Kurt Sandgaard was in 3rd place with a countback of 21 points and Jan Lovgreen was 4th with a countback of only 16 points.
