Mountain Shadow (white tees)
TAKESHI TOPS THE MOUNTAIN
Cafe Kronborg golfers played Mountain Shadow today where we had good and bad news. The good news is that Dave Richardson has been discharged from hospital and is on the road to recovery – the bad news was that Mountain Shadow was in Shadow and gave us a thunderstorm for about an hour!
We all know that nobody should play in rain thunder and lightning and I always thought the golden rule in such conditions is to exit the course quickly by taking shelter at a drinks hut or at the clubhouse. I was in the first group and with others we sheltered in the drinks hut after the 12th green. When the storm had passed we played our last 6 holes in reasonable conditions but on completion of our round we discovered to our surprise that 6 players had abandoned their rounds and taken early showers!!!!!!
Takeshi Hakozaki – who had more than six holes to play when we were able to resume play – scored 20 points on the back nine to win the A Flight – thereby illustrating what we know already namely that most courses in this area drain very quickly and players should not panic when there is a rain delay.
In our small field today the 6 no returns resulted in only 4 of the remaining golfers not winning prizes!!!
