Cafe Kronborg 18/3

Ty Anderson on the left, Jan Lovgreen on the right, with Dave ‘The Admiral’ Richardson in the centre.

Cafe Kronborg played Plutaluang East and South on Monday 18th March, which we haven’t played for some time and it soon became apparent why West and North is the favoured of the two courses. The condition of the fairways was as expected, not good, not bad, but with some muddy tight lies depending where your ball finished. Some of the greens were having work done to them with unplayable areas which were unmarked. The rest of the putting surfaces were extremely tricky with the back 9 being a tad faster than the front. The grass is very grainy on these 18 and the slower 9 seemed to grab the ball and threw it off line if it wasn’t hit hard. A far cry from the true running greens of West and North. All that being said, the low season green fee was a bargain and somewhat made up for occasional rough area.

Back in the clubhouse the scores were as expected, except for one person who we think may have played a different 18 holes. Only he and he alone managed to beat his handicap with no-one else even close to matching theirs.

There were 2 flights with the A flight 0 to 23 and the B flight 24 and above.

The A Flight winner and master of East and South was Ty Anderson with an incredible 43 points, 24 of which coming on the front 9. This was a gross 77 off the stick, an exceptional day on an easy course, but nothing short of miraculous on these 18. Apparently his putter was glowing red when he came off the front nine. Second and third places were decided on countback with 2 mere mortals having 33 points, a full ten points behind Ty. Taking second place was Arne Max Pedersen with 18 points on the back and third was Richard Kubicki faltering on the back with 15 points. Arne once again scoring well and Richard showing signs of his swing changes starting to work.

In B Flight the winner was Jan Lovgreen with 33 points, another mortal persons’ score. Jan returning to the podium after unusually missing out last Thursday. Second was Kurt Sandgaard with 31 points, Kurt having his second 2nd placing in a row. In third place was Peter Hammond with 30 points. Peter being another podium regular this season, finding the magic touch after a tough season last year.

As the group was smaller due to the imminent end of the season, there were no near pins or long putts today.
