NOT A JEWEL IN THE CROWN !
Cafe Kronborg golfers today went to Crystal Bay Golf Club where we played the B and C nines. Unfortunately the condition of this course is rapidly declining. In spite of there being three female staff dealing with registration in the pro shop somebody seemed to have forgotten – or didn’t care – that it is the golf course which needs labour and somebody who can operate a greens cutting machine!
The grass on the greens on the back nine looked and played as if they had not been cut and believe it or not downhill putts were slow!
This is a good layout and cheap but so are Pattavia and Treasure Hill where the management appreciate and understand the reasonable needs and requirements of golfers and apply much tlc. I note that Crystal Bay is not included in the details of 22 golf courses in this area advertised in the Golf Guide Brochure – I think we all know why!
Apart from our moans and groans one of our players was able to play to his handicap and won the A Flight in spite of blobbing the last hole after a bee stung his ear when he was walking to the 18th tee. Not too much sympathy was expressed as he has been stinging us all winter – maybe there is poetic justice!
Today we welcomed Phil Scotton and said farewell to Peter Sindberg and our results were as follows.
A Flight (0-22)
1st Rob Brown(7) 36 points
2nd Ronnie Rattle(21) 35 points
3rd Phil Scotton (22) 34 points
