Bangpakong Riverside
1st Robbie Watts (10) Net 67
2nd Les Cobban (9) Net 68
3rd Neil Carter (11) Net 69
Near pins Gary Bright, Jimmy Carr, Les Cobban
A reasonable field of 11 participated in the first medal round of the month at the Bangpakong Riverside Course. This is a course that elicits very polar opinions, some claims it is like playing in a large field, while others really like the course. What is not in any doubt is the condition of the course which is always presented in excellent condition. Coupled with very pleasant weather conditions could not be better for golf except that a fairly stiff breeze blew all day which helped keep temperatures down. With everything in favor of low scores, the boys didn’t disappoint with the low handicappers dominating. Robbie Watts was again to the fore with an excellent round of net sixty-seven and could have been a few strokes better except for some wayward putts. Hot on his tail was Les Cobban a stroke back whilst Neil Carter brought up the rear with sixty-nine points net. Near pins went to Gary Bright, Jimmy Carr, and Les Cobban.

Pattana Sports and Country Club
1st Geoff Cox (19) 38 points
2nd Jimmy Carr (17) 38 points
3rd Tony Robbins (22) 37 points
Near pins Peter Allen, Chris Della-Mare X 3
Due to the late finish of the World Cup semi-final coupled with a bit of disappointment for English fans numbers were lower than expected for today’s round at Pattana Sports and Country Club. This is a quality and challenging course and one we rarely play only in the low season due to uncompetitive pricing in high season. The course was in fine condition, the weather pleasant but once again the wind which was strong at times played a part in the results. Geoff Cox rose to the challenge returning a card of thirty-eight points obviously unaffected by the soccer result. Jimmy Carr also had a fine round but had to settle for second on countback whilst Tony Robbins announced his return from yet another overseas jaunt by taking third one stroke adrift. Near pins went to Peter Allen and three to Chris Della-Mare who seems to be a bit of a dab hand with near pins.

Eastern Star
1st Jimmy Carr (17) 34 points
2nd Geoff Cox ((19) 30 points
3rd Takeshi Hakozaki (12) 30 points
Near pins Geoff Parker, Geoff Cox, Chris Della-Mare X 2
The week’s golf concluded with a round at the Eastern Star course. As seems to be the case more often than not this is a very difficult course on which to put together a decent score and so it was again today with results moderate at best. Danger lurks everywhere on the course with many fairways having o.b, on one side and water on the other. This coupled with a breeze meant that if you were not straight then you were in trouble. Jimmy Carr was top of the podium today with a modest thirty-four points. Second, went to Geoff Cox on thirty points edging out Takeshi Hakozaki on countback. Once again Chris Della-Mare figured in the near pins taking two while Geoff Parker and Geoff Cox took the remaining two.
A good week for Geoff Cox with a win and a second place
