The Bunker Boys 03/10
Into a new month and a trip to Bangpra. The weather was great, 29° with a light breeze and the course in excellent condition. This course really suffered in the dry spell but it is back to its usual standard. Today the greens were a bit slower than Bangpra at its fastest but tricky enough for most. Jimmy Carr started off like a meteor with 14 pts after six holes but like a meteor faded and only managed a further 14 pts on the remaining 12 holes. The star of the day was Geoff Cox who amassed 23 pts on the front nine just 2 over the card and although he faltered on the back with 15pts easily took first place with 38pts.Neil Carter who was proudly supporting the US in the Ryder Cup (but he’s from Canada!!) and getting some good natured heckling had 21pts on the back nine and took second place with 36pts followed by Tony Robbins in third with 33pts. It was Geoff and Neil’s day as they shared the near pins. It was good to welcome back Laurence Harding having a break from his tennis .
1st Geoff Cox (15) 38pts
2nd Neil Carter (14) 36pts
3rd Tony Robbins (16) 33pts

We faced a dark grey sky as we set off for Pattavia and the rain hit as we proceeded up 331and continued almost to the course. PJ was taking bets on how quickly before it caught us but his fears were unfounded as the thunder rumbled all day but the storm held off until the last group moved off the 18th green. Then it hit with a vengeance with a massive lightning bolt striking the side of the 18th fairway a few minutes after we finished. It was a day for the 16 handicaps and Jimmy Carr. After his burnout on Monday Jimmy started cautiously with 15pts on the front but then turned it on and 23pts on the back nine gave him 38pts and a comfortable win. Lance Conway-Jones and Tony Robbins went head to head all day and Tony finally got in front on the 16th only to carelessly 3 putt the last two holes giving Lance second place with 36pts and Tony third with 35pts.
1st Jimmy Carr (16) 38pts
2nd Lance Conway- Jones (16) 36pts
3rd Tony Robbins (16) 35pts

Final round of the week was at Mountain Shadow and at last the weather was fine throughout and no threat of rain. The recent spell of weather had certainly helped the grass growth and the rough lived up to its name . This is a tight course and several of the holes have 180yards carry to the fairway leaving the shorter hitters hunting for balls in the rough short of the fairway. There was little run and consequently off the Blue tees scores were not so good. It was Geoff Cox setting the early pace following on from Monday but he had invited his good friend Laurence Harding to play and they had a close duel with Laurence catching Geoff and taking first place from him on count back both with 34 points. Third place was close with Thomas Nyborg making a rare appearance and winning on count back from Tony Robbins and Neil Carter all with 33pts.
There were two excellent near pins Tony Robbins getting within 2 feet on the 170 yard 8th and Gerry Cooney to 3 feet on the 190 yard 17th
1st Laurence Harding (16) 34pts cb
2nd Geoff Cox (15) 34pts cb
