HAVEN CONSULTANTS MONTHLY MEDAL
Today was the eighth medal in this year’s series again generously sponsored by Brian Chapman of Haven Consultants – Financial Advisers based in Nern Plubwan. She was shivering first thing in the morning when she said ‘it is the cold season’ which confirmed our suspicion that winter has officially arrived and to prove the point the sky was a brilliant shade of blue with not a single cloud in sight. A strong wind, however, decided to make its present felt and blew for the 18 holes keeping the temperature to tolerable levels. Why is it that the wind seems to be in your face more often than at your back? In the ladies competition the winner, with one exception, was the wind for in 4th place was Miss Sasicha with a net 76 with Miss Noodle in 3rd place with a net 75 but would have been better had she not dropped 7 shots in just three holes on the back nine. Miss Pin occupied 2nd place with a net 74 which partly came about with treble bogies on 17 and 18 which might have brought her nearer to the eventual winner, Miss Eng, who had a great round dropping only 4 shots on the front nine for a net 68. The men, for a change, fared better today with a countback needed on the last three holes to separate Tony Oaks and Dave Smythe for 3rd place both with a net 70 but a birdie on the par three 16th gave Dave the honours. Allan Back had 3 sevens on his card but still managed a net 69 but Gareth Gill, who is hoping that we play in windy conditions every day, for he was the star of the day with a net 64 dropping only 1 shot on the front nine and securing 5 pars on the way home. The twos were shared between three golfers today, Miss Phew, but Dave Smyth and William Macey had 2 each.
