So here we are having had 12 months of monthly medals, today we will find the 2016/2017 medal champion for both ladies and men. We will also find the first contender for next year’s championships. We owe a big vote of thanks to Brian Chapman of Haven Consultants (Financial Advisers) who has kindly sponsored each monthly competition and today’s final for which we are extremely grateful for his continued generosity. The Thai weather threw everything at us today. We arrived under some dark, forbidding clouds and all the caddies had the bag covers out in readiness and they were not wrong for we had rain, wind and thunder just as we started but we gave it a rest when the lightening started to show us the way and a little too close for comfort. We had persistent rain for 9 holes, just enough to allow you to continue your round but heavy enough to make you very wet. After 9 holes the sun decided to show its’ face and dried all our clothes and clubs. The weather had a serious effect on the scores with the exception of Miss Som who was obviously in a different world for she ignored the weather and a 9 on the 1st hole coming home with a net 66 to be the ladies champion for 2016/17. Left trailing in her wake was Miss Da with a net 72 to be this month’s winner just a step ahead of Miss Nong on the same score and Miss Kran 3rd with a net 75. John – Coco the clown would be proud of your outfit – Dearden won this year’s championship with a net 75. Thiery Petrement won this month’s medal pushing John Anderson into 2nd place. Judging by the number of 2s today, putting came very easily for there were nine of them and these went to Miss Usa, Miss Tan, Lloyd Shuttleworth, Wayne Cotterell, Jeff North, John Anderson, Thiery Petrement, Gerard Lambert and Joe Wheeler.
