Billabong 29/04

Do you ever feel that life is passing you by? It seems that it was only 2 weeks ago that we had the final of the annual monthly medals but it was actually 4 weeks ago and here we are again with the Haven Consultants Monthly Medal sponsored by Brian Chapman (Financial Advisors). Before you know it we will be thinking about Christmas. The expressions on the faces of those standing on the 1st tee ranges from ‘OK’ to ‘oh no! ’. But the monthly medal is always well supported with Brian, playing his only round of the month, kindly sponsoring a separate competition for both ladies and men. A remarkable number of ladies today – 16 – adding colour and smiles to the day’s activities and one young lady in  particular was very happy scoring a gross 80, net 68, with 11 pars on the card and the winning trophy was presented to Miss Poopay by Brian Chapman. Miss Phaeng was the bridesmaid today with a net 70 the same score as the consistent Miss Eng. Miss Phin came 4th with net 71 carding 11 pars and 1 birdie. An even more remarkable round came from George Barrie who had his lowest ever score of 83 gross, net 66 – perhaps a career defining moment? His round, however, started with a double bogey but 4 birdies and many pars helped to remedy that situation. Back at the Billabong, George rang the bell in celebration and I am sure the trophy will occupy a prominent position at home. Bill Marsden, returning from new Zealand and not having played golf for 3 months, forget any faults he had with his swing and just hit the ball to come home second with a net 70. John Deardon relegated Bob Van Mol to 4th both having a net 71. Five 2s today which went to Miss Oh, Miss Yen, Bob Van Mol, Peter LeNoury and addressed by his very polite caddies as Mr. Wayne Cotterell, perhaps his nickname of Cottee will fall by the wayside.
