Miss Nu and Sandy.  Greig Ritchie and Sandy

Not that  I have played golf in a sauna you understand, but playing at Green Valley today in temperatures approaching 40 degrees  you certainly had an inkling of what that might be like.  Everything was against an easy day of golf today, the heat, the course is in desperate need of some consistent rain for there are many dry patches appearing everywhere and the greens had just been tined making putting a little more difficult but we still had 10 groups supporting the Haven Consultants Monthly Medal which is, and has been for some years, sponsored by Brian Chapman CEO of that company. The ladies, as usual, performed well most of them having the energy to walk the 18 holes in the  searing heat, with Miss Karen (14) who should have had a better score than her net 71 for she had treble bogies on both the 9th and 10th holes but held onto 3rd place. The consistent Miss May (10) had 12 pars but a 7 on the par three 8th put paid to her hopes of winning the day, whilst Miss Nu (16) had a steady round of golf occupying 1st place with a net 69 which included 9 pars. Three of the male competitors had net 74s but Arch Armstrong (10) came out on top with 41 on the way home which included two double bogies. Jim Grieve (25) lost a countback to William Macey (21) with  treble bogies on the 10th and 13th holes for 3rd place. William, metaphorically speaking, pulled his socks up on the turn playing the back nine 9 shots better than the front. Greig Ritchie (30) told everyone who was prepared to listen, and who would not, that his handicap had been slashed, having been on the podium for the last three competitions, from 31 to 30 and despite the severe reduction took the honours with a net 70. There was only one two today and that went to Miss Phin.
